When April asked me to review the My Memories Suite software for Scrapping the Magic, I was thrilled! Sure, I’m already a digi-scrapper, so I already use some software, but I’m always looking to see what else is out there and I had heard good things about My Memories Suite and was looking forward to taking it for a test drive.
The first thing I had to do was download the software from www.mymemories.com. The process was simple and the installation was fast. Nothing major to note, which is a good thing. No glitches, no headaches. I value that in a software package!
So, then it was time to take it for a spin. I decided to whip up a page using some Disney photos (of course!). I started by browsing the selection of page templates and I found a lot of templates that I loved! I finally chose one and started adding pictures. I found the process simple and intuitive.
Now it was time to add some zing to the layout. I was able to use a digital paper that wasn’t part of My Memories as my background (that’s an important factor to me; I don’t want to only be able to use the content that comes with a software package). Then I started browsing through the embellishments provided in the software package and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of colors and styles that were included with the software, all for free! There were basic brads and ribbons all in a variety of colors and they were easy to resize and place on the page.
So, here is my finished page:
I kept it simple since I was just testing the software out, but I’m pretty happy with the results. I did use the shadow tool and I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed with that one aspect of the software. I didn’t care for the default shadow and I didn’t see any way to change the direction of shadow which is something I really like to do. That was kind of a bummer.
The one other tool that I didn’t see that I have seen in other software was the layers tool or list. It wasn’t easy for me to tell which layer was on top and if I wanted to move something back in the design, there wasn’t a simple way to do it.
So, overall, I was pleased with the My Memories experience. I loved the layout options and the included content. My main dislikes were around the shadow tool and lack of an intuitive way to manage layers. So, I’ll give it a Final Grade of B+ — a good solution for someone looking to try digital scrapping. The included content is a nice bonus.
My Memories has given us a copy of the software to give away to one lucky reader! Check out this post for all the details!

This is very helpful for my newbee self. I hope to be hybrid digital scrapper, so in theory the shadow thing should be moot… I guess… Thanks Jessica for the review!
