Clear stamp issue-HELP!

Most of the stamps I own are wood-mounted rubber stamps, but I have been slowly getting the acrylic ones.

When I use a clear stamp I never seem to get a clean image, no matter what brand I have used. When I ink up the stamp it looks like the ink is "beading" up like water does on a car after it has been waxed.

Is this normal? I'm wondering if I need to "treat" the stamps in some way before I use them. Could it be the ink? I primarily use Stampin' Up pads, they are not dried out b/c I have no problem with my rubber ones.

If you need an image to help "diagnose" my problem, I can provide one.

Wow, you are a mind reader! I just picked up the supplies last night to write a post about "prepping" acrylic stamps.

Some (most, not sure haven't tested yet) Acrylic stamps need to prepped before using. The best way I know to do that is rub them down with an Artist's White Eraser. I'm pretty sure it's the white one, haven't tested yet, others may work too... that's tonight's project. Stay tuned...

I've had the same problem with the beading....I discovered that the newer dye based and pigment based ink pads seem to work well. Anything water based beads up.

I have never heard of the artist's eraser, but I will have to try it out! Thanks!

Can you pick one of those erasers up at Michaels?

The good ones are in the artist's section - the aisle with all the oil paints, pastels, canvases and good brushes.
