12 Days of Scrapbooking Layout Contest

On the 1st day of Scrapbooking my friends gave to me... a piece of cardstock! On the 2nd day of Scrapbooking my friends gave to me... 2 rolls of ribbon and a piece of cardstock! You can imagine how the rest of this goes. This song was the inspiration for our 12 Days of Scrapbooking Layout Contest!

Create a layout that uses at least 1 item from 12 different categories listed below and post it in this thread by January 9th. The layout can have any topic or theme, it does not have to be about Christmas. When posting your layout please list out the 12 categories that you used. An item in your layout can only count towards one category, if you used a chipboard flower you can either count that as a piece of chipboard or a flower, but not both. On January 10th one lucky winner will be chosen at random from all of the layouts that correctly completed the challenge.

And what will that winner receive? A KI Memories Christmas collection complete with album!

Good luck to everyone and please PM or email me with any questions. Thank you Raelynn for coming up with this contest!

Here is an example on how you should submit a layout

  1. Cardstock
  2. Patterned Paper
  3. Journaling (Titles and dates don't count as journaling)
  4. Title
  5. Photos
  6. Date
  7. Ribbon/Fiber
  8. Metal

Now clearly my layout would be disqualified because it only has 8 items, but I only posted this to give you a general idea on how your entry should be submitted.

April -

I've been starting to rally my resources to plan for this challenge. I see from the announcement that the qualifying item is a layout, and from your example that a two page layout is acceptable. Which is good, because I can't really imagine getting all 12 things on one page, although there are ways to do it tastefully, I am sure!

Anyway, if you can confirm that a two page layout is acceptable, that would be great, since I don't want to submit anything that wouldn't qualify.

I apologize in advance to anyone who thinks that I am dense! LOL

Thanks!

Hi Lynne, April is on the road right now to....ME, so I will answer.

You can do a card, 1 page OR 2 page layout so a 2 page layout is perfectly acceptable.

No, not dense.....just making sure you completely understand the challenge, so ask any questions you need to!

I have another question. I hope I'm not complicating things but I rarely use a lot of the items listed so I want to make sure I understand.

#1 - So if you have a chip board flower and also another chip board embellishment, can you count both a flower and chip board since you have two?

#2 - Or if you have a flower and use a button as the center - does that count as just the flower, or would that count as the flower and button?

**If I had to answer, I would say you could count both for #1 and just one for #2. But I'm not running this show!

#1 - You could count the Chipboard Flower as a Flower and the other chipboard item as chipboard, making them count as 2 items

#2 - If the button and flower were purchased pre-assembled it would count as one. If you placed a stand alone button in the center of a stand alone flower that would count as two. If you sew the button to the flower... that would count as three.

Okay, let's see if I can do this correctly:

First, my pages for the challenge:

List of Categories
Photos - check
Cardstock - check
Patterned Paper - check
Journaling (Titles and dates don't count as journaling) - on the left hand page - check
Title (s) - check
Date - written in my journaling block - check
Stickers - 3 stickers - the best place in the world, mickey & me, dotting the I - check
Rubons - on two of the pictures and below the right page title (it all started with a mouse) - check
Rhinestones - the middle of the two flowers - check
Die Cuts - under the journaling block and the sticker on the left page - check
Ribbon/Fibers - red ribbon on the M on the right page
Metal (Brads, Eyelets, Staples) - brad on the O in BOY - check
Stamps - 4 little Mickey heads stamped on the left page between the pictures - check
Sewing - 4 "Xs" on the corners of the journaling block - check
Buttons - accenting the picture on the far left page - check
Fabric - the zig zag trim on both pages - check
Flowers - accenting both the Os in OH - check
Chipboard - accent in the O in BOY - check

I hope you like it! Thanks for looking!

Very cute! You know you only need to choose 12 categories, right? But I am seriously impressed you managed to do them all! And do them all without having a cluttered looking layout.

I love it!

What! I only had to choose 12? You know, I knew that, but then I printed out the list and just kept going LOL!! I would have only skipped the sewing and the stamping, though, if I had chosen to eliminate, those two things gave me the most problems. Man, am I laughing at myself!

Yup, only needed 12, like the 12 days of Christmas! But seriously... very, very impressive to have 18 different items on a layout and have them all work beautifully!

Great job Lynne!

I wanted to enter, but I'm not sure it will look as good as Lynne's.

I'm trying to make it not look so busy. I am definitely not a scrapbooker.

All layouts are beautiful no matter what your skill level is. It's the fact that you took the time to do it that makes it perfect.

You have until end of day on Saturday to enter your layouts!
