If you’ve ever visited Epcot at Walt Disney World then you’ve most likely visited Club Cool, the little shop where you can sample sodas from around the world. I bet you even have pictures of your family and friends tasting Beverly, an “interesting” flavored soda from Italy. If you do, or even if you have pictures of World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, of kids enjoying a soda, or trips to a soda parlor like Beaches `n’ Cream at the Beach Club in Walt Disney World, then these little embellishments are prefect to adorn your layouts! And they are all made with… recycled soda can tabs!

Since soda can tabs – pop tabs for those of you that prefer that term – are metal they are perfectly safe for layouts, as long as they are clean and all sharp edges have been flattened. Bottle caps also work great as an embellishment, just flatten them with an old style Sizzix machine, vice, or even a hammer will work.

For the first idea I took 8 soda tabs and one bottle cap and made this cute little flower!

All I did was use some glue dots to hold everything in place!

If you like the idea of using soda tabs, but don’t like the idea of adding the bulky tabs, this idea is for you. Here I lined up a few tabs to make a border and used some leftover fabric spray paint I had to color the paper. Let dry and remove the tabs and you have a cool, funky border for your page! The technique works great for cards and other projects too!

Finally, this last idea takes the most work but really makes a page pop with color. Take a few tabs and paint the red, blue, white… whatever color you want, let dry and adhere to the page with glue dots! A great way to add color!

So there are a few ways to add some fun, free, and earth friendly embellishments to your pages!

Happy Scrapbooking!
